Tune in Tuesday

This is a weekly feature hosted by GReads! that showcases music. I have always considered music my passion, so this is perfect for me!

Linger by The Cranberries

I chose this song this week because I'm currently reading Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. And the title makes me think of this song. I don't think that the song itself is necessarily fitting to the book – I'm only about 100 pages in – but almost every time I think the title, this song pops into my head.

Tune in Tuesday

This is a weekly feature hosted by GReads! that showcases music. I have always considered music my passion, so this is perfect for me!

The Older I Get by Skillet

Now, before I say anything more, I'll make it clear. I absolutely LOVE Skillet. We're talking my all-time favorite band. Ever. I FINALLY saw them live in 2009, and again last year. And they are SO GOOD! Their music has gotten me through a lot, and has been nothing but a wonderful blessing to me.

So, why this song? Well, GReads is a book blog, and that's how I found this meme – perusing book blogs. (For those who don't know, I also am Proud Book Nerd.) I post this one here simply to keep from completely overcrowding the book stuff.

Oddly, this week, the song actually was chosen because it reminds me of my current read, Love Story by Jennifer Echols. Although it's much more mature than the people in the story ... anyway, that's why I am sharing this one. It's possible I've shared it before, as Skillet is probably my most-shared music group, but oh, well. It works! ;-)

Tune in Tuesday

This is a weekly feature hosted by GReads! that showcases music. I have always considered music my passion, so this is perfect for me! I've been meaning to post this for a while, but just haven't had the time. Now that I have a moment, I'm in! :-) I'm always wanting to share my music. So, hopefully I can find the time to get a post up every week!

Listen to the Sound by Building 429

I recently discovered this song and absolutely LOVE it! I've already downloaded it onto my iPod. I have two of Building 429's CDs and the more I listen to them the more I love them. Anyway, enjoy! :-)

Tune-In Tuesday #10 ~ For Real

I type my titles before I actually write my posts. Otherwise, I forget to add a title! So, this was written in hopes that Grooveshark actually wants to WORK this week! I'm calling this #10 because last time Grooveshark wasn't working. Anyway, it's time for Tune-In Tuesday.

For the newbies: Tune-In Tuesday is something I (try to) do every week. I LOVE music – almost as much as I love reading. And, I figured that my blog is the perfect place to share music with you. Generally, it will be my favorites. Songs that touch me, songs that move me, songs that I love for any reason. Sometimes they'll be songs I heard recently that I like or songs that are pertinent to me at that time for reasons I'll explain in my post. If you love music – or just have some songs to share, too – please play along. For now, just leave me a comment with your link. When we get some more participation, I'll make a button and get us a Linky to make sharing easier!

Now that that's out of the way, here's this week's Tune-In Tuesday Music:

1. Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) by Beyonce ~ I'm not too into Beyonce. Never have been. But, my daughter has been singing this lately – because the kid next door does. (I'm guessing it's the Chippettes' version, but I figure that'd be annoying, so we'll go with the original! ;-) )

2.Lead Me by Sanctus Real ~ I recently heard this one. WOW! I so wish this would hit home with my husband ...

I am so proud of myself! I did it – ahead of time, too! :-D I'm really, really hoping I can get into a routine with this!

So, anyone out there have music to share? I wanna know what you (or your kids, I suppose LOL) are listening to!

Tune-In Tuesday #10 ~ Or Not

You thought I was gonna forget again, didn't you? I fooled you! ;-)

But, of course, technical difficulties are making it near impossible for me to post something. Grooveshark doesn't want to load, and YouTube doesn't either! :-\ If I think of it, I'll try to post again either tonight or later this week. If not, it'll be next week. Sorry! It's been a couple of hours with no luck for me! :-\

Tune-In Tuesday #9

A day late and a dollar short. But, hey, better late than never, right? RIGHT? ;-)

I have two songs for you. One is the aforementioned Switchfoot song, the other is appropriate right now. (Sorry, no lyrics today)

1. The Bed's Too Big Without You by The Police ~ I love this song. Always had. And this one works right now. Mr. Ham is gone for the week for business, and so, this song works. Enjoy!

2. This is Your Life by Switchfoot ~ Still not on Grooveshark – I'll have to look into that. Anyway, here's a "video" of it. (Not really a video – picture of the band while the music plays.)

If you participate today (or did yesterday despite my forgetfulness), please share a link! :-)

Have a blessed day,

Tune-In Tuesday #8

Tune-In Tuesday is a weekly meme I started here on Ramblings & More. I love music, and want to share some of my favorites – or whatever I'm currently into – with you. If you wanna join in, please do! Just share your post or your pick in a comment. (If this ever gets more than a few people participating, I'll do a Linky, but right now that's not really necessary.)

1. Your Love is My Drug by Ke$ha ~ I don't listen to any radio stations other than KLOVE and AIR-1, but I saw her perform this on SNL recently, and it's really catchy. I like it. Anyway, here it is (no lyrics for it, as I don't think it's needed):

2. Jungle Boogie by Kool & the Gang ~ My kids love this one, so I wanted to share it because of that. (Again, no lyrics.)

Tune-In Tuesday #7

Good morning! Happy Tune-In Tuesday! :-) Before I get to that, though, I wanted to offer my apologies. I was absent yesterday due to technical difficulties. Apparently, there has been some issue between Google services and AT&T DSL customers in the Midwest. Google was blaming AT&T, but I find that a bit much. Google was the ONLY thing any of us were having trouble with – and by "Google" I mean ALL of Google: Gmail, Blogger, etc. By the end of the day, however, they seem to have resolved the issue. But, my hubby is gone for a few days this week, so I wasn't able to come by and say hi. So, if someone posted any comments, I apologize for not getting to it right away.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And now for the fun stuff. Tune-In Tuesday! :-) I don't know if you remember, but last week I shared a song by Flyleaf. Since then, I have purchased the full CD. And I am SO GLAD to have done so – it is GOOD! Abby likes it, too. She says it's great having a rockin' CD with a GIRL singing! :-) Every time I listen to Flyleaf, I'm reminded of Evanescence. Anyone else experience that?

Anyway, today I wanted to share another Flyleaf song, one that is just as awesome as Again, last week's song.

Treasure by Flyleaf ~ A beautiful, powerful song. And this girl has pipes! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! :-)

Can I tell you a story as we dance
while the sun starts to bleed
Song of songs love is calling daughter
wake up from your sleep

Refined I'll become the most
dazzling precious treasure
I'll be treasured over all the earth

Bearing the gift of a new heart
Patience ablaze I'm slowly burning

Refined ill become the most
dazzling precious treasure
Ill be treasured over all the earth

I am in awe and in shock
I'm in love and given away
I'm reserved with these words:

Can I tell you a story as we dance
while the sun starts to bleed
Trees rejoice with the wind here
Hallelujah, Yes Shua

Tonight I've become the
most dazzling precious
I am treasured over all the earth
Just look at what he's done
How he's laying down his life
Take this life
Oh most dazzling precious treasure
Tonight I've become the most
dazzling precious treasure
I am treasure over all the earth

Tune-In Tuesday #6

I promised it'd be back this week, and here it is! :-) I don't have a fancy-dancy graphic yet, but there will be one. I promise.

So, for today, I've honestly no idea what music to share. So, this post likely will take me all. day. to write! LOL That said, I'm starting this at 10:05 a.m. (central). I'll let you know when it's finished! ;-)

Finally! (It's 2 p.m. now ...) I know what to share.

Again by Flyleaf ~ I LOVE this song. I just love the sound of it, plus it's nice to have a rockin' song with a WOMAN singing. I can sing along without straining the voice! ;-) I actually love this song enough to have bought it on iTunes, which is a rarity for me. I prefer to buy the CD, which I can listen to in my car.

I love the way that your heart breaks
with every injustice and deadly fate
Praying it all be new
and living like it all depends on you

Here you are down on your knees again
trying to find air to breathe again
Only surrender will help you now
I love you please see and believe again

I love that you’re never satisfied
with face value wisdom and happy lies
you take what they say and go back and cry
you’re so close to me that you nearly died

Here you are down on your knees again
trying to find air to breathe again
Only surrender will help you now
I love you please see and believe again

they don’t have to understand you
be still
wait and know I understand you
be still
be still

Here you are down on your knees again
trying to find air to breathe again
Only surrender will help you now
The floodgates are breaking
and pouring out

Here you are down on your knees
trying to find air to breathe
right where I want you to be again
i love you please see and believe again

Here you are down on your knees again
trying to find air to breathe again
Right where I want you to be again
See and believe!

I've actually been meaning to share this song for quite some time. Just never remembered it. I try to write the songs down when they come to mind, but often I'll think of something while driving. As in, I am behind the wheel. So ... I'm just happy to have remembered to post this one FINALLY! It's an awesome song!

So, share your music pics! Leave me a comment with a link, or – if you don't have a blog – just share one of your favorites!

I'm Sorry

I hate doing this, but there will be no Tune-In Tuesday post this week. Yesterday was NUTS (running around ALL DAY), and today was busy, too. My intention is to have it ready to go and scheduled to post in the morning so it's here all day, but that requires time for both planning and execution. That's time that has been eluding me as of late – especially when I'm trying to do things like organize my kitchen! ;-)

That said, I wanted to say something. When I started this meme here on Ramblings & More, I honestly had NEVER seen a music-related meme in the blogosphere at that time. I have since learned that someone else has been doing a Tune-In Tuesday (probably mistakenly missing that hyphen), and there's another music-related meme on Mondays. I believe it's called Music Monday. Anyway, I honestly hadn't seen either of those before, and was not stealing someone else's idea. While I'm not in the least bit surprised that others have had similar thoughts (or, in the case of Tuesday's meme identical thoughts), I honestly hadn't seen either prior to making my first post.

I do fully intend to continue this meme. While it seems it's of little interest to my readers, it's something I like, something that makes me happy. And, really, that's what this blog is about. I love that others want to read what I have to say. I sure hope I bring something of value to the blogosphere. But, my primary goal is to have a not-so-private journal. I post what I want, what I like, and what makes me happy.

So, despite its lack of originality, I will continue posting Tune-In Tuesday every week (hopefully starting back up next week). I will be creating a fun little button for it that you can grab and use, should you ever decide to participate. I will aim to share at least one song every week, with themed posts when appropriate (Mother's Day, Christmas, special days in MY family's life, etc.).

So, again, I'm sorry for no Tune-In Tuesday this week. Stick around, and it'll be back next week!

Blessings,

Tune-In Tuesday 4/13

It's music time! :-)

This week's picks are not very related, but still songs I love.

1. God of This City by Bluetree ~ Such a good, powerful song. Every time I hear this I have to sing, and I have to hear it over and over and over ... It is especially pertinent in these crazy times in this nation I love. When singing this, I often will change "city" to "nation." It serves as an awesome reminder that no matter what might happen or how things might appear, God is ALWAYS in control. Whether our nation's leaders choose to acknowledge Him, whether our nation's citizens choose to acknowledge Him, whether you as an individual choose to acknowledge Him – none of that matters. It doesn't change the simple, blessed fact that God indeed is in control. You don't have to believe it to make it true. It is true. It is THE TRUTH. He is the God of This City, the God of This NATION!

You're God of this city, you're the King of these people, you're the Lord of this nation, you are...

You're the Light in this darkness, you're the Hope to the hopeless, you're the Peace to the restless, you are...

For there is none like our God, there is none like You, God!

Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city!
Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done here.

You're the Lord of creation, The creator of all things you're the King above all kings, you are...

You're the Strength in the weakness, You are Love to the broken, You're the Joy in the sadness, you are...

For there is none like our God, there is none like you, God!

Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city!
Where glory shines from hearts alive with praise for You and love for You in this city.

Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city!
Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done here.

And I think I'm going to stop here. The other song I was considering sharing doesn't seem to fit this week. Plus, I need something for next week! LMAO

So, please share your favorite songs – whether here in a comment or in a post on your own blog is up to you. Please leave your link if you do post something!

Blessings to you!

Tune-In Tuesday

I almost forgot about this today – almost. It has been CRAZY here. I had an appointment with my allergist this morning, so Natalie and I went straight there after dropping Grant off. Then we stopped by Target, picked Grant up, and had to take Natalie back to the pediatrician. So, we weren't home until lunch time. I really haven't had much time to sit until now. So, that's why no music before now. But, now that it's over, I'm here with some music!

So, I was thinking that with Easter coming on Sunday, I should do something along those lines. But, well, I don't know that there are any Easter-themed songs that I'd wanna share. And by Easter-themed I don't mean about bunnies, eggs, and jellybeans. I mean the crucifixion and resurrection. But, I grew up in a church that rarely – if ever – sang any hymns of any sort. So, my repertoire on crucifixion- and resurrection-related songs is pretty small. So, I'll just keep it to Christian music. So, here we go!

1. Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet by Jars of Clay ~ One of my favorite Jars of Clay songs ever. And I do think this one is perfect for posting during what some religions (not mine) call Holy Week – what I've always just thought of as the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. Given that this weekend is when we remember – and even celebrate – Jesus' blood and all it means.
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
never failed me yet
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
this one thing i know
that He loves me so

Jesus' blood never failed me yet
never failed me yet
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
this one thing i know
that He loves me so

Jesus' blood never failed me yet
never failed me yet
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
this one thing i know
that He loves me so

Jesus' blood won't fail me yet
won't fail me yet
won't fail me yet

Jesus' blood never failed me yet
never failed me yet
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
this one thing i know
that He loves me so

Jesus' blood never failed me yet
never failed me yet
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
this one thing i know
that He loves me so

Jesus' blood never failed me yet
never failed me yet
Jesus' blood never failed me yet
this one thing i know
that He loves me so

Jesus' blood (won't fail me yet)
blood (won't fail me yet)
His blood (won't fail me yet)

Jesus' blood (won't fail me yet)
His blood (won't fail me yet)
won't fail me yet (won't fail me yet)

Jesus' blood (won't fail me yet)
His blood (won't fail me yet)
His blood won't fail me (won't fail me yet)

this one thing i know
that he loves me so

2. Judas' Kiss by Petra ~ An oldie but a goody (or is it goodie?)! This one might not pertain to the crucifixion/resurrection as well as others, but when else is Judas' kiss relevant? ;-)
I wonder how it makes You feel when the prodigal won't come home
I wonder how it makes You feel when he'd rather be on his own
I wonder what it's like for You when a lamb has gone astray
I wonder what it's like for You when Your children disobey
It must be like another thorn stuck in your brow
It must be like another close friend's broken vow
It must be like another nail right through You wrist
It must be just like, just like Judas' kiss
I wonder how it makes You feel when no one seeks Your face
I wonder how it makes You feel when they give up in the race
I wonder what it's like for You when they willingly disobey
I wonder what it's like for You when they willingly walk away
It must be like another thorn stuck in Your brow
It must be like another close friend's broken vow
It must be like another nail right through Your wrist
It must be just like, just like Judas' kiss

Well, I surprised myself – I actually DID find some that are relevant to Easter. Or at least I think so. Enjoy! And don't forget to share your music! :-)

Tune-In Tuesday

This is rare. I'm at a loss. I'm drawing a blank. I have no idea what music to share with you! WOW! That didn't take long, did it? In my defense, it has been a CRAZY week – if you read this blog you know! So, let's see. What can I share with you ...

How Great is Our God by Chris Tomlin ~ What a powerful, powerful song.
The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Well, since I'm drawing a blank right now, I think we'll just have one this week. Hopefully next week I'll have more to share! LOL

So, anyone wanna share their music with me? Please? I'm so lonely! ;-) (If you're curious about what I'm doing, read the first Tune-In Tuesday post HERE.)

Testing a Music Feature

As you know I recently began a new meme called Tune-In Tuesday. I had been using YouTube to share songs, but didn't like having the videos – they make the page just too big. So, I've been looking for a way to share JUST a song. And I think I found it. It's called Grooveshark, and it allows me to create widgets featuring single songs. So, I made one with Monster (which was featured this week). Let's see if this works:

Tune-In Tuesday

It's time for Week 2 of Tune-In Tuesday. I don't think anyone participated last week, but that's OK. I love music. It's my goal to share my favorite music with you. I'm hoping to come up with a graphic for this, but can't decide if it's worth it if no one participates ...

Anyway, to refresh everyone's memory, my point is to just share some songs that either are my current favorites or have really hit home as of late. I'm attempting to limit myself to two songs per week, but you can feel free to share as many as you want. To read more about why I decided to do this, check out last week's post HERE. Here are my choices for this week:

1. The Words I Would Say by Sidewalk Prophets ~ I have heard this on the radio a few times recently, and thought it was so good. When I attended Winter Jam on Friday, they were there - so I bought the CD. AWESOME song! Anyone who is struggling should hear this! I don't know if this is the official video or something someone created to go with clips from the movie Fireproof. Either way, it's an excellent song!

Three in the morning,
And I'm still awake,
So I picked up a pen and a page,
And I started writing,
Just what I'd say,
If we were face to face,
I'd tell you just what you mean to me,
I'd tell you these simple truths,

Be strong in the LORD and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

Last time we spoke,
You said you were hurting,
And I felt your pain in my heart,
I want to tell you,
That I keep on praying,
Love will find you where you are,
I know cause I've already been there,
So please hear these simple truths,

Be strong in the LORD and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

From one simple life to another,
I will say,
Come find peace in the Father,

Be strong in the LORD and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
Thank God for each day,
His love will find a way,
These are the words I would say

2. Monster by Skillet ~ I told you last week that I LOVE Skillet! ;-) This song is special to me. Not because I can relate to it (although there are times I can), but because my kids love it. They ask for it all the time. There's a (what I consider cheesy) effect toward the end of the song that cracks my kids up. The car (where the CD currently resides, and has for months) fills with the musical laughter of my kids, and that makes this song that much better! I also wanna add that this song makes me think of some characters I've become acquainted with recently: Dexter, from the Showtime series of the same name, and Edward Cullen from the Twilight series. Anyway, here's the song:

The secret side of me, I never let you see
I keep it caged but I can't control it
So stay away from me, the beast is ugly
I feel the rage and I just can't hold it

It's scratching on the walls, in the closet, in the halls
It comes awake and I can't control it
Hiding under the bed, in my body, in my head
Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster

I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster

My secret side I keep hid under lock and key
I keep it caged but I can't control it
'Cause if I let him out he'll tear me up, break me down
Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster

It's hiding in the dark, it's teeth are razor sharp
There's no escape for me, it wants my soul, it wants my heart
No one can hear me scream, maybe it's just a dream
Maybe it's inside of me, stop this monster

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun
I must confess that I feel like a monster

I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin
I must confess that I feel like a monster
I've gotta lose control, he something radical
I must confess that I feel like a monster

I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster

Tune-In Tuesday

I have always said that music is my passion, my life. When asked the question "What would you do if you could do any job OTHER THAN your current one?" I always say "Something in the music industry. Maybe producing or music engineering, etc." I LOVE music. I love to sing, I love to dance. I LOVE music. Either early this morning or late last night I decided to attempt a meme of my own: Tune-In Tuesday. I'm going to share TWO of my current favorite songs, songs that have recently inspired me, or songs that I just think everyone ought to hear at least once! While I'd love to be able to just add the songs to my account, I have decided to locate the songs on YouTube. If I can find the video that goes with, I will share that. If not, I will find a suitable alternative.

That said, here are my Tune-In Tuesday (Week #1) picks:

1. Rebirthing by Skillet ~ I LOVE Skillet. They are my FAVORITE. I discovered them while in college about 11 years ago, and have been a big fan ever since. So, you'll likely see LOTS of them in here! ;-) This is probably my favorite song of theirs EVER.

I lie here paralytic
Inside this soul
Screaming for you till my throat is numb
I wanna break out
I need a way out
I don’t believe that it’s gotta be this way
The worst is the waiting
In this womb I’m suffocating

Feel your presence filling up my lungs with oxygen
I take you in
I’ve died
Rebirthing now
I wanna live for love wanna live for you and me
Breathe for the first time now
I come alive somehow
Rebirthing now
I Wanna live my life wanna give you everything
Breathe for the first time now
I come alive somehow

I lie here lifeless
In this cocoon
Shedding my skin cause
I’m ready to
I wanna break out
I found a way out
I don’t believe that it’s gotta be this way
The worst is the waiting
In this womb I’m suffocating

Bridge:
Tell me when I’m gonna live again
Tell me when I’m gonna breathe you in
Tell me when I’m gonna feel inside
Tell me when I’m gonna feel alive

Tell me when I’m gonna live again
Tell me when this fear will end
Tell me when I’m gonna feel inside
Tell me when I’ll feel alive

2. Hero by Skillet ~ I told ya, I LOVE Skillet. My kids do, too - they ask specifically for Skillet! This is one that all of us listen to a LOT lately.

I'm just a step away
I'm just a breath away
Losing my faith today
(Falling off the edge today)

I am just a man
Not superhuman
(I'm not superhuman)
Someone save me from the hate

It's just another war
Just another family torn
(Falling from my faith today)
Just a step from the edge
Just another day in the world we live

Chorus:
I need a hero to save me now
I need a hero
(Save me now)
I need a hero to save my life
A hero'll save me
(Just in time)

I gotta fight today
To live another day
Speaking my mind today
(My voice will be heard today)

I've gotta make a stand
But I am just a man
(I'm not superhuman)
My voice will be heard today

It's just another war
Just another family torn
(My voice will be heard today)
It's just another kill
The countdown begins to destroy ourselves

Bridge:
Who's gonna fight for what's right
Who's gonna help us survive

We're in the fight of our lives
(And we're not ready to die)

Who's gonna fight for the weak
Who's gonna make 'em believe
I've got a hero
(I've got a hero)

Living in me

I'm gonna fight for what's right
Today I'm speaking my mind

And if it kills me tonight
(I will be ready to die)

A hero's not afraid to give his life
A hero's gonna save me just in time
