Cheers to all of us thieves!

1. Have you ever licked the back of a CD to try to get it to work?
Um, no. Does that work?

2. What’s the largest age difference between yourself and someone you’ve dated? 3 or 4 years, I think.

3. Ever been in a car wreck? Yep.

4. Were you popular in high school? Not really.

5. Have you ever been on a blind date? No.

6. Are looks important? Sometimes.

9. Does the number of people a person’s slept with affect your view of them? I don't generally seek out that info.

10. Have you ever made a mistake? Never. I'm perfect! ;-)

11. Are you a good tipper? When I have a good server, I am a generous tipper. When the server doesn't stand out, he/she gets the standard 15%. If I have a shitty server, they get less.

12. What’s the most you have spent for a haircut? Well, I rarely get a cut without color, so it's been $100+. I don't know what a cut on its own would cost.

13. Have you ever had a crush on a teacher? Not that I remember.

14. Have you ever peed in public? Sure. I do it all the time - at the restrooms in a restaurant or at Target or whatever! ;-)

15. What song do you want played at your funeral? I'll Meet You There by White Heart or a song by Matthew West that I currently forget the title of.

16. Would you tell your parents if you were gay? I'm not, so this is a non-issue.

17. What would your last meal be before getting executed? Alaskan King Crab Legs, fries, biscuits from Red Lobster, shrimp, mac and cheese, and lots and lots of chocolate for dessert.

18. Beatles or Stones? Neither.

19. If you had to pick one person on earth to die, who would it be? I'll let God make those kinds of decisions.

20. Beer, wine or hard liquor? A little bit of wine. (Too much alcohol upsets my stomach.)

21. Do you have any phobias? Yes.

22. What are your plans for the future? Immediate future: get my ankle healed up so I can start running again. I miss it already!

What's the Bzz: Bil-Jac Dry Dog Food #imabzzagent

Before I get started with this post, I just wanted to make it clear that I am a BzzAgent. BzzAgent is a company that helps businesses get the word out about their products. They hook their agents up with products to preview, and then let us loose to share our experiences. BzzAgents are open, honest, and having fun.

We have a 5-year-old beagle named Sawyer. He's generally a very good dog, and your typical chow-hound. He'll eat just about anything. Oddly, though, for the past several months, he'd been ignoring his bowl full of food for an entire day before eating his breakfast. It would get eaten right before it was dinner time. As I mentioned, he's a beagle. Beagles generally are not picky dogs. We're not sure what was up with that, but it seems to have passed now. You see, thanks to BzzAgent, we were able to sample Bil-Jac Dry Dog food. (Well, when I say we, I really mean Sawyer was able to sample it. No humans in this house ate any, at least so far as I am aware!)

We decided to try the 2-bowl challenge. All you do for that is put a small amount of his regular food in a bowl and a small amount of Bil-Jac in a bowl and let the dog pick.

Sawyer barely even considered his previous food. He inhaled Bil-Jac, and suddenly was very much looking forward to meals every day. He still looks forward to meals every day now!

With the exception of his eating habits, I'm not sure I could say he's changed much otherwise. He's in need of knee surgery, and still has regular problems with his bum knee(s). I never expected the food to fix that, of course. I'm sharing that because I think it's entirely possible that the lack of change in his behavior is because of his knees. His coat does appear to be a bit shinier, but that could be simply because I expect that to happen.

For more information on the Bil-Jac food, check out their Web site: Bil-Jac.com.
For more information on Bil-Jac nutrition, check out THIS PAGE.

My husband and I are both quite impressed with this food. Sawyer hasn't been this enthusiastic about his everyday food since he was a puppy!

We'd like to continue feeding this to our dog, but I'm not sure if we will. While it's clearly an excellent product, it is expensive. More expensive than the brand we'd previously fed Sawyer. I'm not sure if Bil-Jac fits into our budget. We'll try to make it work, though – I can say that with confidence.

So, yes, I would highly recommend Bil-Jac dry dog food. (And Sawyer would, too!)

2. My daughters are my darlings.

3. Once upon a time, well, it sounds like it's gonna be a great show! I'm looking forward to checking it out soon.

5. What is not today's question. Today's question is where.

6. I sure hope my MIA package from LeapFrog gets here sooner rather than later.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to celebrating my baby girl's 4th birthday with the kiddos and my parents, tomorrow my plans include the final rec. soccer games for the season and spending time with my parents and Sunday, I want to not stress over Natalie's birthday party. It's at Monkey Joe's, so it should be pretty easy to avoid a lot of stress!

Five Question Friday

1. Do you prefer your ice cream in a bowl or in a cone? Depends. I love waffle cones/bowls. But, don't always want to deal with the drippiness of a cone. Then I go with a bowl.

2. What three things do you love the smell of? Lilacs, spring/summer rain, my babies when they're clean

3. Giftcards or no? (In regards to gift giving...) Yes.

4. What sports did you play in high school if any and do you still play them? I was on the poms squad my senior year. I know some people don't consider that a sport, but it was an excellent aerobic workout on a regular basis! And, uh, no, I am not still doing anything of the sort. My poms days ended with high school graduation.

5. Were you in band in high school? What instrument did you play? No, but my freshman year I played violin in the orchestra. Sophomore through senior year I was in choir. I sang first soprano.

Wanna play along? Go HERE.

Mompact Review & GIVEAWAY: Twooth Timer

Motherhood leaves women with all sorts of new worries, jobs, and roles. In addition to caring for your children, taking care of the big things (like feeding, nurturing, etc.), and being their biggest cheerleader, moms also have to worry about the little, day-to-day things. Many of these things are much bigger, because they can help our children develop lifelong habits. Fortunately, other moms have got your back! Mom inventors have created many wonderful things to help moms with all sorts of tasks, problems, etc. that come as part of the job.

Today I am thrilled to share the Twooth Timer with you!

The what?

The Twooth Timer! In short, it's a 2-minute timer that helps ensure your kids brush their teeth long enough for maximum health! It's cute and fun to use, and can help your children develop a healthy habit that will last a lifetime!

From the company's Web site:
Experts recommend brushing your teeth for two minutes. A recent study found young adults spent less than 35 seconds brushing their teeth.
New research is that finding heart disease and strokes, as well as diabetes and respiratory disease, may be linked to gum disease. Consider your mouth as a doorway to your body. Plaque is a colorless film of bacteria that sticks to teeth and if not properly removed, can lead to gum disease. The bacteria associated with gum disease can enter your bloodstream and travel throughout your body. Good oral hygiene is the best prevention.
Healthy habits begin early and our award-winning, mom-invented products are designed to help children achieve good dental health and have fun doing it! Recommended by dentists and dental hygienists for a lifetime of healthy smiles!

Look at that timer! Isn't it cute? Here are some more facts:
  • Convenient size - 3¼" H x 2¾" W x 2½" D
  • No batteries needed
  • Helps reduce dental bills by improving dental hygiene
  • Works with all types of toothbrushes - manual and electric
  • Easy to use! Simply turn the top to the 2 and begin brushing. Stop when the bell rings.

My Thoughts: I gotta tell ya, I love this little device! I first heard about it in a survey with QuestionMoms, and was thrilled when this was one of the products available as part of the Mompact Blog Hop event!

My kids have been using this for a few weeks now, and it does its job. My oldest, who is 8, will not brush without it now! She loves it. I don't have to be there – she goes up to brush her teeth, starts the timer on her own, and brushes until it rings! We haven't been to the dentist yet since it arrived, but I look forward to her telling him about it. I think he'll be proud of her!

Now, did I mention how cute it is? It's bigger than I thought it'd be, but I like it. It stands out on our (regularly cluttered) bathroom counter, which means it doesn't get forgotten. Plus, it's sturdy. I know for a fact, because it's been dropped at least a couple of times ...

I only have one teeny tiny complaint, and it really is small. The timer, when it rings, is loud. It sounds like a kitchen timer (which is how I know for sure my daughter's using it, because I can hear it from downstairs), and is probably just as loud as one. Because of that, my younger two (5 and 3 years old) aren't big fans of it. The ringing apparently is a bit loud for their sensitive hearing – or something. BUT, I like it loud because – as I just mentioned – I can hear it ring when I'm downstairs, so I know it's getting used. I suspect that as the other two get older, they will come around and start using it, too.

The Final Word: Wonderful product that is sure to help your kids develop healthy habits, and hopefully keep those habits for life!

Sunday Stealing: The Lower 40 Meme, Part One

Cheers to all of us thieves!

1) Who is the last person you high-fived? One of my kids. Probably my son, but the girls are into high-fives, too, so I don't know for sure.

2) If you were drafted into a war, would you survive. It depends on what I had to do. On the front lines? Probably not, but then who knows?

3) Do you sleep with the TV on? No.

4) Have you ever drunk milk straight out of the carton? Ick, no!

5) Have you ever won a spelling bee? No. I always wanted to when I was a kid, but my nerves always got the best of me.

6) Have you ever been stung by a bee? Yes, a few times over the years.

7) How fast can you type? Fast enough.

8) Are you afraid of the dark? Not usually.

9) Eye color: Brown

10) Have you ever made out at a drive-in? Yes

11) When was the last time you chose a bath over a shower? I can't remember.

12) Do you knock on wood? Yes

13) Do you floss daily? No

Where's number 14?

15) Can you hula hoop? I'm not sure. I was good at it when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago ...

16) Are you good at keeping secrets? Depends on the secret.

17) What do you want for Christmas? An iPad.

18) Do you know the Muffin Man? I did, once upon a time ...

W.T.F. Meme: Dogs on surf boards join a Facebook status chain

1) Last week women on Facebook started another one of those supposed "raise breast cancer awareness" status chains which end up just confusing men. This one had me saying "I'm 14 weeks and craving Skittles." Instantly people started asking me if I was pregnant. This has angered some people (including a blogger who posted a rant about it because she says that "pretending you're pregnant isn't cute"). What do you think of status chains like this? They haven't bothered me before, but I refused to post this one. I agree that leading others to believe you're pregnant when you aren't just isn't good. This one, I felt, was wrong. So, I opted out.

2) Do you think people should be able to buy music and share it with everyone he or she wants or should everyone have to purchase the songs themselves? I think a limited amount of sharing would be OK, but sharing with anyone and everyone who's interested doesn't seem right. Why would anyone buy any music if they could just get it from anyone willing to share? (Napster, anyone?)

3) How often do you (or your significant other) vacuum your house? What's a vacuum?

4) Monday was National Cheese Pizza Day. What toppings do you like on your pizza? My favorite is taco pizza. When I can't have that, I like pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, and (sometimes) green olives.

5) The Thought Catalog has posted a list of great songs to cry to. What is a song that can easily bring you to tears? Nothing comes to mind. I'm not one who cries very easily.

6) Beanie babies were a big craze in the 1990s. What is a toy that you collect or used to collect? I was in college when Beanie Babies came out, and have TONS of them. I don't really collect toys anymore – unless you count the toys my kids play with.

7) Buddy, a 14-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, will be the first animal inducted into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame. Do you enjoy seeing animals do crazy stunts? I don't seek it out, but if I happen to see something it depends on what it is.

8) September is Fall Hat Month. Do you like to wear hats? If so, what type of hats are your favorites? I'm not big on hats. I only wear them when absolutely necessary to keep my ears from freezing off.

Friday Fill-Ins

FFI

And...here we go!

1. Summer is quickly coming to an end, at least for my kids. I have mixed feelings on that. It'll be nice to get back into a consistent routine and have some peace, but I'll miss them. And I'll miss sleeping in.

2. The TV channel is unchanged through most days, as the kids love PBS shows (But, no, the TV isn't on all day.).

3. Aargh! I'm actually not all that frustrated at the moment. This is unusual, but I'll take it.

4. I don't do well when I have to wake up early in the morning.

5. Seven: Umm ... is a movie I've never seen.

6. Insomnia sucks; don't you think?

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to finishing my book, tomorrow my plans include hair appointment and laundry and Sunday, I want to get ready for my mom's visit next week (it was postponed)!

My Own Page #imabzzagent

Thanks to BzzAgent, which gives me the opportunity to try many different products for free (so that I'll tell my friends, readers, family, and others about them), I recently discovered about.me. It's kind of a one-stop shop for all of your online things. Actually, I think it's better described as an online business card. (And who knows? Maybe that's what they call themselves, too. I'm not sure.) It's really neat. You can link to your facebook, twitter, blogger, wordpress and other social networks; add other links and pictures. Make it a page completely about you. It's highly customizable, and I envision having a lot of fun as I get more ideas about what to do with it.

And right now, they're offering 50 free business cards from MOO if you create your page. You do have to pay shipping, but MOO is a great service! (I'm not sure how long that's going to last, so don't wait if you want to take advantage of it!)

While you're there, look me up: http://about.me/ham1299. If you have a page, let me know.

W.T.F. Meme: Ehh, what's up with you?

1) CBS debuted a show titled "Same Name" over the weekend which has famous people (including David Hasselhoff, Kathy Griffin, and Reggie Bush) switch places with everyday people with the same name. Do you share the same name with some famous person? Not that I know of.

2) If you do have (or theoretically if you did have) the same name as a celebrity, would you trade places with the celebrity for a while for a television show? Sure. Why not? It might be fun.

3) Today (July 27) is Bugs Bunny's 71st birthday. What should he do to celebrate his birthday? Eat some carrot cake.

4) What has been your favorite movie so far this year? The final HP, of course!

5) If you were a tour guide for your city, what three places would you take visitors to see? I'd take 'em up on the bluffs so they could see the gorgeous view of the river. Then to the John Deere Commons, because you can't come to the Quad-Cities and not go there! Finally, I'd take them to Jim's Rib Haven for the best barbecue EVER!

6) How often do you screen your phone calls? Every time the phone rings. (I check caller ID. If I don't recognize the name/number, I don't answer.)

7)  27-year-old Amy Winehouse died over the weekend. Were you a fan of hers, or were you like me and barely knew anything about her until after she died? Barely knew anything about her. I knew about her drug use thanks to Leno/Letterman. But that's about it.

8) Who is another celebrity you feel died too young? Heath Ledger

9) If you had the power to decide people's fates, would you consider it a blessing or a curse and why? A curse. That is a HUGE responsibility. I think I'd rather leave that up to God.

10) Wanting to go to a taxidermist to get your dead dog/cat stuffed -- normal or creepy? Very creepy.
